About Kathryn Davison
I am a Principal Lecturer and Team Leader of the Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Therapeutics team.
I joined the University in 2011 and since then have led a clinical module on MPharm, developed a new Pre-registration Training course, worked as MPharm Programme Leader, and hold an associate post with the General Pharmaceutical Council. I was appointed to the role of Team Leader in 2017.
Before joining the University, I ran a busy community pharmacy in Sunderland for 12 years.
Research
I completed an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy in 2014 having secured a £10,000 funding grant from the NPA to conduct research into experiential learning in the undergraduate MPharm course.
Since then I have completed further research in this area and completed research into pre-registration tutor training. I secured funding from Health Education England in 2016 to undertake a regional project in this area.
Alongside other members of the pharmacy practice team, I am undertaking research funded by Health Education England into the effectiveness of the Prescribing Safety Assessment as a measure of performance in MPharm students and graduates.
I am also currently working with colleagues on a funded project dealing with care of bariatric patients evaluating the patient reported impact of the pharmacist on pre-surgical evaluation.
