Dr Michael Thurlbeck

I am CEO of Stapleton International and hold a Professional Doctorate, Master of Science, and Master of Laws. I have sustained a successful career globally which is acknowledged by the University with the award of an honorary DBA in recognition of my longstanding achievements in the maritime and oil and gas sectors.

I am a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Companion of the Chartered Management Institute. I specialise in the development, improvement, and implementation of management systems. I also hold fellowships with RINA, RSA, and InstLM.

I continue my commitment and dedication to Sunderland in my role as International Ambassador for the city, Visiting Professor, and Entrepreneur in Residence.
