Mr Nathan Mackley

I joined the University as an Academic Tutor in 2022 and fell in love with the ethos, energy, and vibrancy here. So I decided to move away from the clinical environment.

My background is in emergency medicine in the A&E department as a qualified nurse. I have over a decade of pre-qualification experience working in the private health and social care sector in various roles, both of which I remain very passionate about. I still work clinically within the directorate of emergency and urgent care, alongside my role as an academic.

I am one of the education links working closely alongside the Student Nursing Associate (SNA) and Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programmes delivered at the Northumbria Healthcare Academy, as well as supporting recruitment for all of our stakeholder NHS trusts.

I am a fitness to practice investigator, Safemedicate lead and Apprentice Education Supervisor in Practice (AESiP) and Personal Academic Tutor (PAT).
