About Ruth Wilson

Having qualified as a registered nurse for people with learning disabilities in 1990, I embarked upon a career in clinical practice, working with people of all ages and in a variety of settings, including residential homes, ward environments and various community settings. I have experience working with a range of people, including children with complex needs, people who display behaviour that challenges, people with physical disabilities, people with Autism, and forensic patients.

Throughout my career, I have supported student nurses in their clinical practice as a mentor, and this role has gradually led to my current role as Senior Lecturer. This is an exciting challenge for me after 30 years of clinical practice, but one I hope will encourage student recruitment to provide a future workforce of learning disability nurses.
