Sarah Barrett

Lecturer in International Education

About Sarah Barrett

I joined the International Education team as a Lecturer following a career in secondary education.

Before entering higher education, I worked as a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher and curriculum leader for many years as Head of MFL. Throughout my school career, I taught French and German across the secondary age range and was passionate about developing students' linguistic competence, intercultural understanding, and confidence in language learning.

Alongside leading the MFL provision, I:

  • Supported Trust curriculum development
  • Mentored other teachers
  • Oversaw the implementation of innovative approaches to language teaching and learning.

In my current role, I teach across the PGCE Distance Learning programmes (both English and French), and this year I have been involved in the development and piloting of the PGCE (French Medium) Distance Learning programme.

I have particular interests in language education, teacher development, and preparing future teachers to work effectively in diverse and multilingual classrooms.
