Senior Lecturer in Engineering Degree Apprenticeships

About Dr Simin Baloochzadeh

I am a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Degree Apprenticeships with over ten years of teaching experience in higher education. I have delivered and led modules across foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels in engineering, and management. My experience includes programme leadership, module leadership, curriculum development, and mentoring new academic staff.

I currently lead programmes within the Faculty of Business and Technology at the University of Sunderland, supporting degree apprentices and preparing them for End-Point Assessment (EPA) while maintaining strong links with industry and university stakeholders. I completed my PhD at the University of Sunderland, examining knowledge sharing and communication within project teams using Web 2.0 technologies.

My research interests include digital collaboration, knowledge management, and sustainable engineering. I have co-authored peer-reviewed publications on energy, exergy, and environmental analyses of integrated energy systems. I am particularly interested in net zero and sustainable manufacturing, exploring how engineering innovation and digital technologies can support low-carbon industrial systems and more sustainable production processes.
