About Dr Stephen Childs
I started teaching in 2017, having previously graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science and a PhD in Bioanalytical Chemistry from the University of Sunderland. My doctoral research involved targeted thiol detection and metabolic profiling in prostate cancer cell models. I have previously worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow studying protein-bound and novel thiol compounds present in prostate cancer cell lines. In 2019 I completed a postgraduate certificate in academic practice (PgCaP).
I am a Chartered Chemist (CChem), Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry Newcastle Upon Tyne and NE Coast Local Section Committee.
