About Suzette Scharschmidt

I am a Postgraduate Academic Assistant in Law. My role involves teaching undergraduate courses in Law, while also researching the current age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales for my PhD.

I was a visiting lecturer for the University of Bedfordshire before moving into law enforcement, working with the NCA/Judicial Prosecutor for the police. I went into academia fully post-Covid, teaching A Level law.

I have several academic interests such as crime and criminal justice. I am also interested in human rights and international law and how the tension between these competing issues is dealt with by both the State and the wider international community.
