About Dr Thomas TY Win
I'm Associate Head of School of Computer Science. I completed my PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2016, having researched virtualisation security and security analytics. My research areas include cloud and operating systems security, Security Analytics using CTI (Cyber Threat Intelligence), as well as Cyber-Physical Systems security in Industry 4.0.
I published my research findings to various prominent cybersecurity journals and conferences. I successfully established international collaborations in both Europe and Asia. I'm a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member (MBCS) of the British Computing Society (BCS).

Research
I am well-known for my leading research into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, specialising in privacy-preserving Explainable AI (XAI) and Actionable Recourse. I have a substantial experience in the design and development of AI-based systems using various deep learning and machine learning algorithms. My systems have been deployed in a wide range of areas, from cybersecurity to autonomous vehicles. Since obtaining my PhD in Computer Science, I have been actively involved in research exploring the intersection of cybersecurity, XAI and AR. I have successfully published my research findings in well-known conferences and journals.
My research areas include cloud and operating systems security, Security Analytics using CTI (Cyber Threat Intelligence) as well as Cyber-Physical Systems security in Industry 4.0. My research interests include Artificial Intelligence security centring around MLSecOps (Machine Learning Security Operations), Explainable AI and Actionable Recourse. I also actively research different areas of cybersecurity, including AI-based red-teaming and malware analysis.
