About Dr Vanessa Parson
I work in the Centre for Teaching Excellence as the Academic Development Partner. I lead on projects in personalisation, pedagogic innovation, AI, and assessment. I work with staff across the institution to facilitate and support pedagogical change that aligns with future-focused education practice. I am the CfTE Policy Lead and work closely with the Academic Quality teams on institutional policy in relation to assessment and pedagogic practice. I also support delivery of the Institutional Professional Recognition Scheme.
My subject specialisms are cognitive psychology (specifically perception, attention, and distraction) and the psychology of learning, although I teach across a wide spectrum of subjects including the psychology of belief, cyberpsychology, and study skills. I teach on the PGCert, and deliver guest lectures within the School of Psychology. I'm a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Teaching and supervision
I teach on the PGCert within the Centre for Teaching Excellence, focusing on the Psychology of Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Personalisation, and Assessment. I also deliver guest lectures in the School of Psychology on Cyberpsychology and the Psychology of Belief.
