Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Digital Technology Solutions Professional (Integrated Degree Apprenticeship) has been designed in partnership with employers to give you the digital knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to succeed in today’s fast-moving tech industry. It’s ideal if you’re already working in a digital role and want to progress or if your organisation is looking to upskill technical staff.

You’ll build expertise across a wide range of areas, including software engineering, IT consultancy, business analytics, cybersecurity, data analytics, and network engineering, before specialising in one of six pathways:

  • Software Engineering
  • IT Consultant
  • Business Analyst
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Analyst
  • Network Engineer.

We’re the only university in the country to offer all six pathways, giving you maximum flexibility to tailor your apprenticeship to your career goals.

Your learning blends theory with practice, ensuring that everything you study can be applied directly to your role. You’ll have access to facilities such as the Cyber Zone, Game Development Zone, Data Visualisation and AI Suite, and the Immersive Virtual Reality Zone, all recently upgraded with significant investment. These environments give you hands-on experience with the tools and technologies shaping the future of digital industries.

By the time you complete the course, you’ll be equipped to tackle real world challenges, solve complex problems, and contribute meaningfully to your organisation. Whether you’re advancing in your current role or exploring new opportunities across the tech sector, this apprenticeship gives you the specialist knowledge and professional confidence to thrive.

Many of our courses include a range of modules you can choose from. Some of these options may only be available if you’ve already studied specific required modules. If you’re not sure what you need before picking a module, your course leader can help.

Undergraduate module credits should total 120 credits per academic year. If optional modules are available alongside core modules on your course, you should choose an amount that totals 120 credits.

How you'll learn

Teaching takes place one day a week (Fridays) at the University with the remaining learning being completed at your place of work.

The course is delivered using a blended learning approach by experienced tutors using a variety of teaching styles including lectures, seminars, coaching, tutorial groups, project work, group work, and independent study.

Modules are mapped against the Digital Technology Solutions Professional apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours framework. Assessment methods include:

  • Practical reports
  • Presentations
  • Course work
  • Critical literature reviews
  • Critical reports
  • Project plans
  • Viva
  • Poster presentations.

You'll go through an End Point Assessment (EPA) following the successful completion of all course modules.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll take part in regular meetings called tripartite reviews, providing an opportunity for your academic tutor and your work-based mentor to support you.

Fees and finance support

Larger organisations can use their apprenticeship levy and government top-up to pay tuition and professional fees of higher apprenticeships. For smaller employers, the government pays 95%, with the remainder co-invested by the business.
