Course summary

The MSc Tourism and Hospitality will help you progress in tourism and hospitality management. The course takes a social science approach and develops the skills employers are looking for. This could be restaurant entrepreneurs, resort coordinators, or hotel managers.

When you graduate, you'll be ready to explore a range of careers. Areas could include:

Hotel and resort management
Attractions and museums
Destination marketing agencies
Tourism companies
Restaurant and bar management
Catering management.

Another option is setting up your own tourism or hospitality business. You'll have access to expertise and resources through our Careers and Employability Service.

You could also pursue opportunities in academic roles or further study, like a PhD.

What you'll study

Many of our courses include a range of modules you can choose from. Some options may only be available if you’ve already studied specific modules. If you’re not sure what you need before picking a module, your course leader can help.

Postgraduate module credits should total 180. If optional modules are available alongside core modules on your course, you should choose an amount that totals 180 credits.

Entry requirements

To apply, we usually ask for at least a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

If you already know some of the topics on this course, you may not need to study the full degree. This could either be due to previous learning or work experience. Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is the process of gaining credit towards a qualification from past learning. If you're eligible, you won't have to learn the same topic again.
