This course is for current social workers and care practitioners. It helps you gain an advanced understanding of practice in child safeguarding.
This course is worth 30 credits. You'll explore current research in several areas of practice in child safeguarding. This will help you critically evaluate your own practice. You'll also share your knowledge and experience with others.
We deliver the course at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's through interactive workshops. This is over five months between 10am and 4pm.
There will also be five hours of asynchronous input via online podcasts. The total learning time is 300 hours (teaching sessions and independent learning).
A negotiated assessment allows you to explore a piece of your own practice. This will relate to one of the topics covered on the course. It could be a written assignment, presentation, or other format. You'll agree this with the course leader to make sure it tests all learning outcomes.
This course is suitable for those working in social work or care environments. You must have responsibility for children's safeguarding.
