Course summary

This short course is for qualified healthcare practitioners. You'll be working in either a hospital or community setting. The course builds the knowledge and skills required to care for patients who have both:

  • A common respiratory condition such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Acute or chronic clinical episodes.

You'll explore the entire patient journey from initial diagnosis to palliative care. The course focuses on holistic wellness in respiratory disease. You'll also learn the need for patients to self-manage and identify an emergency. This is important for getting an urgent referral to secondary care services.

There are three routes available depending on your experience:

  • Management of Asthma and COPD in Adults (Level 6)
  • Understanding Asthma and COPD in Adults (Level 6) (for nursing associates)
  • Developing Practice in the Management of Asthma and COPD in Adults (Level 7).
