Course summary

This short course is for healthcare practitioners. It supports teaching and learning within clinical practice. It allows you to teach skills and knowledge to other members of a multidisciplinary team.

You can study at Level 6 or Level 7, depending on your qualifications. It's awarded as one of the following:

  • Undergraduate Certificate of Achievement in Facilitating Learning in Practice
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Achievement in Enhanced Facilitation of Learning in Practice.

What you'll study

You'll examine current theories that support teaching and learning. These will have clear links to practice settings.

You'll review approaches to teaching in both formal and informal settings. This will help you build skills in negotiation, feedback, and professional development. You'll also learn about supervision, mentorship, and reflective practice.

The course focuses on the importance of diversity in the workforce. You'll explore current education theories. You'll look at how they link to clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice. This is both within healthcare and professional learning.

How you'll learn

Teaching takes place on campus on a day release basis. We also expect you to engage in independent studying and work-based learning.

The course runs for 14 weeks. There are six on-campus teaching days, four directed study days, and four self-directed study days.

Assessment is a portfolio of evidence. This includes teaching evidence, resources, and critical reflections and discussions.
