The course will run over eight months, with four months per module. The first module runs every Tuesday 9am-3pm, unless stated. This includes three classroom study days.
The second module runs every tuesday. It will alternate between an on-campus masterclass and study sessions. These study sessions are for Self-Directed Support (SDS) and assessment literacy. There will be six on-campus masterclasses.
Modules are taught using a multi-modal, blended approach. This allows for a more student-centered, flexible learning environment. This will encompass:
- Simulation
- Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
- Dialogic discussions
- Active seminars.
The VLE platform will be the focus of self-directed synchronous and asynchronous learning. All sessions will be taught by faculty members with significant Critical Care experience.
Authentic and traditional assessments will include:
- A written exam
- A service improvement proposal
- A critical case review
- A ‘Grand Round’ presentation.
Formative assessment, feedback, and assessment literacy will be given throughout the course.
You'll need to complete the Step 2 and 3 National Competencies and accredited modules to complete the programme. You'll then be recognised as a certified Critical Care Nurse by the Critical Care Network.
