Trusted Landlord Scheme

The University has partnered with a select group of Trusted Landlords across the city to help you find high-quality private accommodation.

What is the Trusted Landlord Scheme?

The Scheme is a collaboration between the University and a membership group of Trusted Landlords, developed in 2026. You can be reassured, when looking for private accommodation with a members of this Scheme, that they meet the expectations set by the University. The Scheme is designed to help you explore private accommodation options with confidence, in addition to our University-managed residences.

The Scheme is also designed to offer you a broader range of accommodation options, outside of our university-managed residences.

What are the expectations for Trusted Landlords?

As part of the Statement of Expectation, our landlords commit to:

  • Provide a property that is clean, safe, well-maintained and a welcoming place to be
  • Provide housing that meets or exceeds all legal requirements
  • Maintain Accreditation Network UK (ANUK) or similar, showing a commitment to best practices
  • Protect deposits in a government‑approved scheme
  • Resolve repairs quickly, and prioritise urgent issues where needed
  • Provide clear and easy to understand tenancy agreements, information on rent, deposit and payment schedules
  • Always maintain positive and respectful communication with tenants
  • Participate in periodic reviews or spot checks to maintain Trusted Landlord status.
