Mentoring and Coaching Independent Distance Learning (IDL) is a Level 7 course for teachers and educators. You will explore the principles, concepts, theories and models relating to the development of coaching, guidance and mentoring skills, and evaluate the impact these might have on teaching and learning.
This course will be particularly beneficial if you are currently mentoring a trainee teacher and wish to develop theoretical knowledge.
Developing supportive relationships, both personal and professional, and an awareness of the potential of all learners, is an important element of the course.
Gain knowledge, understanding and intellectual skills that you can apply to your teaching position and enhance your career
You will be taught via tutor and group-led discussion sessions, case studies, self/peer reflection, evaluation of visual or audio recordings, research and self-directed study. Assessment methods include written commentary and transcript and a written report.
Mentoring and Coaching
You will be expected to demonstrate the development of related skills including active listening skills, the personal qualities that underpin effective learning relationships and the ability to integrate these skills into their professional practice.
