The clinical rehabilitation labs are dedicated spaces designed for Physiotherapy students to develop and apply key skills in movement analysis, biomechanics, and kinesiology. These flexible teaching rooms support a range of learning styles – from lectures and workshops to peer learning and practical exams, with cameras in place for assessment.

Equipped with clinical tools like plinths, walking aids, and anatomical models, the labs provide a realistic environment to help you build confidence before working with real patients.

Physiotherapy is a hands-on subject, so you'll regularly take part in simulations to practise your skills in a safe, realistic environment. These sessions involve using a wide range of manikins – from high-tech patient simulators like SimMan and CAE Apollo to realistic SimBodies. These advanced models can mimic real physiological responses such as blood pressure, pulse, and even drug reactions, helping bring clinical situations to life as part of your training.

Our Living Lab features a one-of-a-kind immersive simulation room, where you can take part in realistic scenarios in a safe and supportive environment. It’s designed to feel as close to real life as possible, giving you the chance to build confidence and practise your clinical skills without pressure.

Right next door, there’s a dedicated debrief room where your group can watch the scenario live on screen and take part in feedback and group discussions afterwards – a great way to learn from each other and reflect on the experience together.

Used by our Physiotherapy, Medicine, and Paramedic Science students, the Anatomy Lab supports modern, hands-on learning in areas like gross anatomy, osteology, and clinical imaging. You'll use high-quality Adam Rouilly models, portable ultrasound equipment, the cadaveric lab, and the Anatomage Table – a virtual dissection tool that brings anatomy, radiology, and pathology to life through interactive, touch-screen technology.

You'll have access to fully equipped mock hospital wards at both the Living Lab and Helen McArdle House, designed to reflect real clinical environments. These include general wards, a mental health ward with bedrooms, a seclusion room, and day room, and a children’s ward with interactive baby and child manikins.

Our PCPI participants play an active role in supporting your learning throughout the course. You’ll regularly engage with patients and carers who are fully integrated into teaching activities, offering valuable insights, feedback, and real-world perspectives to enhance your development.
