The University has a number of policies designed to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed with us. Hear from staff and students to learn more about how each of these policies are benefitting their experience with us.

Shared Parental Leave

Shared Parental Leave is a great symbolic and practical step towards gender equality in parenting. It recognises the importance of both parents in bringing up a child. We spoke to Seb Trend who has taken SPL to share his experience in the hope of raising your awareness of the positive impact this had on his family.

Keep in touch days

Mothers on maternity leave are entitled to 10 ‘keeping-in-touch days’ (KIT) throughout the nine months which provide them with the possibility of being able to work without bringing a period of maternity leave to an end. Hear from Lucy Lax, Kate Banks and Megan Lunn on their experience of using KIT days.

Maternity rest rooms

We recognise that returning to work after maternity leave may be the first time you have been separated from your baby for long periods and this can be a difficult time for you and your baby. The rest rooms provided by the University are equipped with the facilities required for expressing milk and rest. Learn more about the Maternity rest rooms available at the University.
