I applied to Sunderland as the course had the right combination of business and computing that I needed to further my career.
If you choose Sunderland, you'll be joining a global community of students from all over the world. Around a fifth of our students come from outside of the UK and each year we welcome new students from over 100 countries. Our students from overseas have the opportunity to experience living in the UK, to absorb its culture and language, and to make valuable contacts and friendships.
We have been shortlisted as University of the Year, the leading category in this year’s THE – Times Higher Education – annual awards. What's more, we were ranked 9th in the ‘International’ category of the Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSC) 2019. The WUSC are the only national awards voted for by students. The QS Stars World University Ranking 2019 awarded Sunderland five stars (the highest accolade) for teaching in their prestigious stars rating system. In addition, the University received five stars for employability, internationalisation, inclusiveness and outstanding facilities.
You'll gain an internationally-recognised qualification and also the skills, experience and knowledge you need to develop a career wherever you choose to go in the world. Visit us in your country at one of our Get Ahead events.
Post-study work visa
The UK government recently announced plans for a new two-year post-study work visa, expanding opportunities for international graduates to build successful careers in the UK.
Under the proposals, International students at British universities graduating in the 2020/21 academic year would be allowed to stay in the UK for up to two years after graduating, compared with four months currently.

There’s such a friendly, supportive environment at the University of Sunderland and the course I did has definitely helped to shape my thinking, which is an indispensable skill in my day-to-day role as an advertising creative.
I had a great experience at the University where I made a lot of friends, gained plenty of knowledge, had many work experiences and improved my life skills like communication and writing.
Studying at the University of Sunderland was the best decision of my life. I wanted to move to a different place, learn something new, make friends and take as many opportunities as I could.
It was interesting to experience a different corner of England - if you like peace and friendliness, then come to Sunderland.
