Andrea Walters

Andrea supports the Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors in ensuring that the University and its UK and overseas subsidiary companies have effective management and governance arrangements in place.

As Statutory Clerk to the Board of Governors, she provides Board members with the advice, support and information necessary for them to fulfil their responsibilities. With Executive oversight of the legal, governance and immigration compliance functions, she ensures the University operates within the higher education sector’s increasingly complex regulatory and statutory framework.

Andrea provides Executive leadership and oversight of the University’s people agenda through its People Plan 2025.

She is the University’s Senior Designated Officer for safeguarding and prevent matters.

Andrea has over 20 years leadership experience within the University and has previously held senior roles within human resources and organisational development in both the private and public sectors where she delivered large-scale change, cultural and development programmes.

Andrea has postgraduate qualifications in both Human Resource Management and Employment Law with the universities of Northumbria and Surrey, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
