Professor Cam Wareham

Outside of my role with the University, I am an International Arbitrator and Mediator working from a London-based chambers.

My work focuses on disputes arising out of the life sciences, biotechnology and healthcare sectors in addition to others. I have gained significant experience within the healthcare and education sectors and have held several senior positions in hospitals and universities in the UK and abroad.

I am recognised for my work in the field of law and medicine, having previously practised as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon and Head of Division at the University of Western Australia's School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and having sat on a number of disciplinary tribunals and clinical governance committees in Australia and the UK. I continue to have close links with the medical profession and support clinical negligence and regulatory matters, through provision of opinion, in addition to sitting as a tribunal or governance chair on various disciplinary panels.

I hold a Doctorate in Medical Science and a Master of Laws (Distinction). I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and am a Professional Conduct Panel Member. I appear on a number of International Arbitration Panels. I hold Civil Mediation Council accreditation and am a strong supporter of Dispute Resolution away from court where possible.

My interest focuses on expert evidence, the development of arbitration in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors, AI in dispute resolution, and the appropriate use of (A)DR in clinical negligence and partnership disputes. I have sat as an Arbitrator and Mediator in a number of disputes in both domestic and international matters.

I sit as a Rugby Union disciplinary chair, having been involved in rugby as a player, coach and referee. I have a number of links with the north-east, having lived and worked locally in the past.
