About Emma Cullen
I'm a Senior Lecturer working with both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in primary education. I'm Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS course (Year 2 and Year 3).
Prior to this, I worked as a primary school teacher since qualifying in 2006. During my time teaching, I worked with children across the entire primary age phase and coordinated a range of subjects including English (writing), mathematics, computing, and geography. I've also worked as a senior leader across two schools.
I'm passionate about education and ensuring the very best outcomes for all children. My subject strengths lie in teaching mathematics and English.
I have a master's in education and as part of this, I studied critical thinking, research methods in education, curriculum in the contemporary world, and mentoring and coaching. My thesis looked at researched models of mentoring to support trainee teachers.
I have experience in mentoring both trainee teachers and those new to teaching having supported both while working in school.
I'm keen to use my experience and expertise to develop those entering the teaching profession.
