About Kristy Regan
I qualified with a master's in Social Work in 2006 and practised in a statutory setting for over 13 years. During this time, I worked with adults with a range of needs, including physical, mental health and learning disabilities. I then specialised in Adult Safeguarding, first as a Senior Social Worker, then as Governance and Safeguarding Manager.
I joined the University in 2019. I have been a Practice Educator since 2013, and I'm taking on the role of Practice Placement Co-ordinator, as well as Programme Leader for Practice Education in Social Work and Co-lead for Advanced Safeguarding Adults.
I continue to be involved in practice: working independently as a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian.
Teaching and supervision
I am Programme Leader for Practice Education for Social Work – Stage 1 and Stage 2, and Advanced Safeguarding Adults, as well as Placement Co-ordinator.
I also teach modules on BA (Hons) Social Work and MA Social Work.
I am an External Examiner for Oxford Brookes on their Practice Education courses.
Research
I am currently undertaking my Professional Doctorate, which is focused on practice education and concepts of professionalism.
