About Martin Holt
Previously, I taught in primary education for 20 years, gaining substantive experience in whole-school leadership as an Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and School Governor.
I am passionate about the use of ICT to enhance pedagogical approaches to teaching, and carried out action research and a master's degree in this area. I also worked as a teacher on the Playing for Success initiative and supported schools in embedding ICT in all areas of the curriculum through CPD.

I am a Lecturer in Education and I am Deputy Lead on PGCE Primary Education with QTS and Year 1 Lead of the part-time PGCE.

Interests
I have a wide range of experience as a mentor of trainee teachers and NQTs in schools. I am also interested in the mentoring process and the professional development of all teaching practitioners, in the context of their educational settings. In addition, the effectiveness of remote learning with trainee teachers and KS2 pupils. Recently, I have worked in our partnership schools using Avantis VR Headsets.
Research
I have completed action research about the effective use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning. In addition, I have also carried out master's research in initial teacher trainees' perceptions of using remote platforms when delivering a mathematics intervention with KS2 pupils.

Further information
I am a keen sportsman and love to play a range of sports: football, tennis, golf, squash, table tennis, cycling and swimming. As a qualified swimming teacher and FA football coach, I enjoy teaching swimming and football – especially in the USA at summer camps! I am passionate that children should be as active as possible, having set up a fitness gym in a primary school.
