About Michael Douglas
I am a Senior Lecturer in Engineering and have been teaching for 12 years in both the FE and HE sector. My background is in maintenance and production engineering, having originally completed a maintenance technician apprenticeship. I have worked in several different manufacturing industry sectors. I am a graduate (MSc Manufacturing Engineering 2018) of the University of Sunderland and in the process of applying to study a PhD here.

I also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects in a range of different subject areas.
Interests
Having come from a maintenance/production engineering background, I have a keen interest in industrial automation, continuous improvement and organisation culture relating to maintenance departments and workforce.

My research interests include:
- Industrial automation
- New technologies including IoT, IIoT and Industry 4.0
