About Sarah Weatheritt
I am very proud to have joined the University as a Lecturer in Primary Education. I look forward to using my knowledge and expertise to help support and enable trainees to become confident, dedicated, and well-equipped teachers.
Teaching and supervision
I have 13 years of teaching experience across Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and have taught in both the private and public sectors. In my previous school, I was subject lead for literacy and was also part of the school’s management team.
Throughout my career, I have mentored many trainee teachers and ECTs from a range of training providers, which I have thoroughly enjoyed, and I am excited to develop this further by supporting students at the University.
I have a wealth of experience and skills to support and develop trainee teachers, from planning and self-reflection to behaviour management skills and practical ideas in the classroom.
I undertake teaching, marking, and support students with their school experience modules and work across various courses including:
Interests
Primary English: the importance of teaching vocabulary and developing children's writing skills.
Research
I am currently undertaking my MA in Education.
