About Vikki Wynn
I'm currently Programme Leader for the PGCE Early Years Teaching (DL) course.
My own experience is focused on early years education, with all of my own studies being conducted alongside employment in a range of early years settings. This has included management roles, giving me a breadth of experience of supervising teams, delivering training for continuing professional development, and understanding the requirements in practice for senior leaders, early years teachers, and practitioners alike.
I'm also involved in school governance and a local committee to strive for the continuous development of all to provide the best possible outcomes for our youngest children.
During my time at the University, (as an alumna myself) I've enjoyed being part of a range of courses and modules, including in Childhood Studies, Primary Education, and as a PAT (Personal Academic Tutor) on the ITE courses.
From my own experiences, I understand the need for positive support networks to instill confidence in students to develop and hone their skills as professionals. Having many 'real-life' case studies, examples, and scenarios to share, I support students in applying theory to practice.
Teaching and supervision
I'm Programme Leader for PGCE Early Years Teaching (DL) (September cohort) and Module Leader for EDP386 and EDPM09. I'm also an assessor on the Assessment only Route to QTS course.
Studying part-time myself has offered an insight into the demands on both students and professionals. I enjoy having the opportunity to provide support for both and develop approaches to ensure all have the best possible experiences to prepare for practice. Being part of the international course also enables me to see a range of global approaches to early years teaching and learning.
