EDI Networks

The University has a wide range of networks open for both staff and students to join.

Diversity is what you see; inclusion is what you feel

Our staff networks are all about change and representing difference. They exist because there is a desire to see a change within our workplace. At the University of Sunderland, we strongly support our staff networks and the communities they represent, as well as embracing different life perspectives so we can create benefits for staff and students.

People come to our staff networks to feel like they're part of a mini community. They're a powerful voice that highlight issues and remind us that, for many reasons, not all employees have access to a level playing field.

In addition to being a space to meet like-minded people, our staff networks act as an effective channel between their members and the wider university. Each network has an executive sponsor who attends twice a year to hear the issues that are important to those groups. Together they help make great strides in levelling the playing field.
