Report and Support

Tackling hate crime is one of our highest priorities, and we have policies and procedures in place to address all forms of harassment. This includes Report and Support, an online reporting tool, as well as confidential, in-person support for students.

We aim to promote a supportive environment in line with our strong track record of equality, diversity, and inclusion. Key to this is ensuring that everyone knows where to access support and how to report an incident.

What is a hate crime?

According to the police and Crown Prosecution Service, a hate crime is defined as "any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice, based on a person's disability or perceived disability; race or perceived race; religion or perceived religion; sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation; or transgender identity or perceived transgender identity."

We're dedicated to maintaining a community of dignity, respect, and inclusivity for our students and staff, and we actively encourage you to report any concerns or incidents you may experience or witness.

How to report a crime

You can report a crime via our online reporting tool, Report and Support, or speak to us confidentially face-to-face.

As part of our commitment to tackling hate crime, we've also built bystander training into your induction. These sessions emphasise the importance of reporting incidents by providing you with the knowledge and confidence to be an active bystander both on and off campus. The training also keeps you informed about what help and resources are available to you if you find yourself a victim or bystander of any form of violence, harassment, or bullying.
