Cllr Chris Eynon is Leader of Sunderland City Council and the Local Authority Representative on the Board of Governors.
Cllr Eynon was elected as the Leader of Sunderland City Council in 2026, representing the Redhouse ward. Cllr Eynon was born and raised in the city before studying at the University of Sunderland, gaining an MSc in Management and Finance. He continues to live locally, maintaining close ties to the communities he serves.
With a professional background in financial services, Cllr Eynon is focused on delivering efficient, transparent and sustainable local government, particularly in the context of ongoing financial pressures facing councils. He is committed to working collaboratively with communities, councillors and partners across the public and private sectors to ensure services respond to local needs and make a meaningful difference to residents.
