Scott took up the post of Principal and CEO of East Durham College in 2024, following eight years at Newcastle College, during which he held roles as Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality, Deputy Principal and Principal.
Scott has over 25 years of experience in FE and Skills, specialising in quality improvement, teaching and learning, and curriculum operations, as well as leading professional services functions of Curriculum Information Services and Exams. Scott has previous experience as an Ofsted Inspector and as an EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Excellence Assessor, and currently represents East Durham College on AoC’s National Strategy Group for Funding, Accountability and Systems.
He is passionate about creating a brilliant student experience and leading his college in collaborative partnerships to enrich the lives of his students, reduce the inequality of opportunity, and support the economic ambitions of individuals and the region.
Outside of work, Scott volunteers as a trustee of Newcastle United Foundation and Hermitage Academy, Chester-le-Street.
Scott joined the Board of Governors in 2025 and sits on the Academic Assurance Committee.
