Jeff Brown is a distinguished broadcaster and journalist, widely recognised for his longstanding role as presenter of the BBC regional news programme Look North in the North East of England, which he left in 2024 after 21 years.
Beyond broadcasting, Jeff has made notable contributions to the cultural and civic life of Sunderland. In 2021, he officially opened a £1.5 million media facility at the University of Sunderland, reflecting his commitment to regional development and education.
Jeff has held the title of Deputy Lieutenant since 2017.
In 2010, Jeff received an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Sunderland in recognition of his outstanding contributions to sports journalism and broadcasting. In 2025, he was installed as a Pro-Chancellor of the University.
