Lecturer in Public Health
I joined University of Sunderland as a Lecturer in 2023. I teach a range of public health modules across MSc Public Health.
Before joining Sunderland, I was working as a faculty member in a medical university in Pakistan. I am a medical graduate and trained public health professional. My journey in the field of public health began with educational pursuits, earning a Fellowship (FCPS) in Community Medicine. I have 10 years of experience in academia, research, and community health initiatives. I contributed to teaching and curriculum development in both undergraduate and graduate programmes. I also served as the Program Coordinator for the Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) Program at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, Pakistan.
My research endeavours encompass a range of topics addressing important public health challenges. I have carried out research projects related to air pollution and health, the health impact of heavy metals, the psychosocial impact of Covid-19, and maternal child health. I have designed and implemented both community-based as well as facility-based projects.
My research focuses on environmental health, epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases, maternal and child health, implementation research, and health systems strengthening in low and middle-income countries.Teaching and supervision
