Senior Lecturer in Sport and Rehabilitation Therapy
I am a Sports Therapist and Physiotherapist. I have worked in sport, the NHS, and in private practice. I have an undergraduate degree in Sports Science and Injury Management from York St John and a master's in Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy from Teesside University. I completed a PhD at Durham University, looking into the embodied experiences of menopausal women during physical activity.
My research interests have included researching the knowledge and skills of student physiotherapy students when implementing psychological strategies such as goal setting in ACL rehabilitation. More recently, I have been interested in women's health, such as menopause and the impact this can have on women's experiences during physical activity.
I am a member of the HCPC professional body.
Teaching and supervision
I teach BSc (Hons) Sport and Rehabilitation Therapy and BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy.
I am module leader for SPO115 Introduction to Sport and Rehab Therapy Practice 1 and SPO327 Complex and Contemporary Rehabilitation.
Research interests for potential research students
Research
My PhD looks at menopause through movement. I have an interest in women’s health especially menopause as well as the psychological impact of injuries on individuals.
My doctoral research primarily explores menopausal women’s embodied experiences of movement practices.
