An event to celebrate 40 years of teaching Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland.
This will be a day filled with demonstrations, networking and exhibitions as well as the opportunity to reunite with old friends, colleagues and meet with current students.
The afternoon will start in the Prospect Building on St Peters Campus, in the Sir Tom Cowie Lecture Theatre, where there will be an introduction from the Vice Chancellor, Sir David Bell, as well as guest speaker, Dr Jack Dawson, to start the celebrations.
Then moving over to the National Glass Centre where there are various activities running throughout the afternoon:
Demonstrations in glass blowing, waterjet cutting, ceramic wheel throwing and lampworking will take place, as well as networking sessions with University of Sunderland Alumni run by Sunderland Futures Team. Please note numbers are limited for all activities and work on a first come first served basis. Sessions are 50 minutes and start at 3pm and 4pm. There is also an exhibition in the NGC main gallery by Rachael Woodman and Neil Wilkin.
The day will round off with the official opening of the 40th Anniversary Exhibition by the NGC’s Head of Arts, Julia Stephenson at 5.30pm.
