[In my work] human beings are largely absent, but the images are redolent with their presence.
I think that the images are like the shots in films outside of the main action but absolutely pertaining to the action. They are about the elements surrounding the action, the noise, silence the weather and they are pauses.
The subject continues to be important to me, relating to my immediate surroundings and the potent sense of things concealed and out of sight.
I feel it touches in a tentative and tense way on so much about what it is like to be alive for me, that I can maintain the excitement needed to commit to a painting, the seduction of the medium and the lovely abstractions
