Guest Lecture Series

As part of the Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism's Guest Lecture Series for 2020/21, improvement architect and Managing Director of Improvement Architecture joins us with his talk, 'From Loss Comes Impact'. Graham will cover his life’s crucibles (as he likes to call them) and how they impacted who he is and his journey to date.

As a Global leader for over 30years and more recently a highly sought Executive Coach and consultant to corporates and SMEs, Graham is someone who has rubbed shoulders with some of the best leaders across the globe.  He is committed to giving of his knowledge and experiences, and really loves to collaborate and pay forward for others.

Within his corporate career; he led verifiable automotive-based turnarounds in the USA and UK, taking part in a sizeable acquisitions, developed a number of joint ventures and strategic alliances across Asia and South America, and managing  global NPD and transformation projects.  As an “Engineer by birth” he naturally connects the dots of strategic thinking, as well as the large technical experience in manufacturing and service-based organisations having worked within SAIA Group (aquired by Johnson Electric) and TRW (aquired by ZF) amongst a few, and within projects with well known brands (such as GM, Jaguar, Nissan, Delphi, Mainetti plc, Technip, Ineos Group, and even UNOPs).

All of this had been achieved after suffering a number of personal life changing events.  This meant that he changed his own career 15 years ago and sought to engage with leaders and businesses who are serious in becoming highly effective global leaders running scaleable international businesses in their own right through his business improvement consultancy, Improvement Architecture Ltd, and more recent, as co-founder of a strategy consultancy IA Growth.  He has been certified as an Executive Coach and Global Leadership Facilitator for Marshall Goldsmith and for Global Coach Group, as well as having been selected from a worldwide pool of coaches to support Ethical Coach (in which he works with senior leaders in NGOs and not for profits).  He continues in supporting a number of fast-growing UK SMEs within various elements of the growth cycle, and to coach an international pool of senior leaders, and in 2019 was awarded Entrepreneurs Forum Business Mentor of the Year award for his altruistic services to business.

Amongst recent testimonials, a COO of a global technology company said he is “unique…. a visionary who communicates simply but gives a breadth of challenging questions that shows his strategic understanding of your issues .. people, process and performance all with no sugar-coating and pointed with precision!!!”.

Another, a Global VP (HR) stated “ I feel I have experienced coaching in a way that I had never experienced before. Graham's talent and ability to dig in has made the difference. There were sessions when I was very uncomfortable, but he never did make that discomfort impossible and challenging to see through. For that, I am grateful.”
