Plans are underway to run a science outreach/community learning festival for the first time in Sunderland next year - and they need your help.
A Pint of Science and will run 14-16 May 2018 in over 150 cities around the world.
In May scientists will be liberated from their labs and offices, head down the pub and talk to non-specialist audiences about their research, in accessible language and with fun demos, quizzes, games etc. It's a hugely popular way to make science accessible to all.
A Pint of Science need to gather a team of eager volunteers (usually postgrad. students, postdocs, early career researchers) who'd be interested to help.
Apart from being great fun to do and a nice way to make some new friends, the "transferable skills" gained by volunteers look nice on CVs, job/grant applications - and speaker involvement is good for impact cases etc. Sponsors, pub venues, universities, local media etc. tend also to get some exposure (and a bit of fun) out of it.
