Sustainability in Art and Design

The School of Art and Design are committed to a sustainable future, proactively seeking ways to make positive changes to the environment.  We have developed a series of interactive workshops around the theme of sustainability which showcases how we, and the industry are adapting and changing.

The following workshops are based at City Campus but we will be offering workshops for Animation and Games Art, Glass and Ceramics and Photography, Video and Digital Imaging at Sir Tom Cowie Campus at the same time. Those workshops are bookable through the same booking link. 

Fine Art

Remake/Remodel

Looking at the work of painter Neil Gall we will develop drawing and paintings based on found objects. Using and reusing found materials to create works of art. This will build your critical thinking around sustainability in the arts and create a positive contribution to the art world. 

 

Fashion, Design and Promotion

Think Sustainable DESIGN

Think Sustainable Design, this session will commence with a discussion about how you can be more Environmentally Friendly followed by a workshop in digital fashion. In the workshop you will use a digital fashion software which is reshaping the future of the fashion industry with 3D virtual fashion design,

3D fashion design and augmented reality is enabling fashion brands to connect with their customers more effectively, so join us and design a garment digitally.

 

Graphic Design

Campaign for change!

Take your first steps in design to create an ecological campaign based on what you want to say about sustainability. You'll use typography and messaging to create dynamic designs that push the creative process, bringing your message about the future of sustainability to life.

Explore the graphic design through concept to creation using various printing techniques to create bold and playful graphics that have the chance to change the world.

 

Illustration and Design

From Bin to Brush

Make Your Own Art Materials using wastepaper and recycled materials and use them to paint and draw.  During the workshop we will show you how to create brushes and pens from household objects, as well as drawing pads from wastepaper.  We'll then sketch and paint using your newly made art materials, which you will be able to take away with you.

 

All taster sessions will run on Tuesday 20th June 2023, 12:30pm-3:00pm on City Campus and Sir Tom Cowie Campus. Students will take part in one session on the day, but groups can be booked across multiple sessions. We can accommodate groups booking multiple sessions across both campuses, please get in touch to discuss booking across both campuses in more detail.
