Following the unveiling of the blue plaque for Eileen O'Shaughnessy Blair on the 30 September, we would like to invite students to come and join us to learn more about George Orwell and Eileen O'Shaughnessy Blair, and their links with Sunderland.

In this session, you will find out how relevant their works are in 2022 and be given the chance to opt for a workshop to develop skills in English, Cultural Studies, or Radio.  In these workshops, you will be able to pick up knowledge and skills to lead you into producing a piece of creative work that you can submit to a competition based on one of these subject areas.

Students will be invited to submit entries under one of three categories:

  1. Workshop 1: skills to write a piece of flash fiction.
  2. Workshop 2: skills to write a short video story script.
  3. Workshop 3: skills to write a short radio/podcast script.

These should be received by 26th November and the winners will be announced before Christmas.

This event is open to year 12 and year 13 school group bookings.
