Understanding the Brain

Topic - Schools and Colleges

Due to the popularity of our Brain Awareness Event, we have decided to run an additional date.

Each year activities take place across the globe to increase awareness of brain science and the impact it has on our everyday lives. Here at the University of Sunderland, we’re delighted to invite Year 12 and Year 13 students to our ‘Understanding the Brain’ event.

The day will begin with a lecture called ‘Welcome to Your Brain.’ This will introduce students to neuroscience via a tour of the brain, taking them on a lobe-by-lobe journey to explore how different areas contribute to our cognition and behaviour. Plus, our passionate lecturers will break some myths surrounding the brain during the session.

Following the lecture students will take part in workshops including:

  • Building the Brain
  • Seeing is Believing
  • Eye-Witnessed It
  • Tricking the Brain

The sessions will be delivered by our expert academics, who all have their specialist areas and passions.
