How do I donate my body?

Home / Help and advice / School of Medicine / About / Body donation

The University of Sunderland is working in conjunction with Newcastle University who already have a well-established Body Donation Programme in place. By signing up to the Newcastle Body Donation Programme, your donation could be accepted at Newcastle University, the University of Sunderland or the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre at the Freeman Hospital. This decision is only made at the time of death.

If you wish to read more about body donation and/or would like to register, please visit Newcastle University's website and download the necessary paperwork.

Alternatively, if you would like this paperwork sent out to you by post, please contact Jo James, Bequeathal Secretary at Newcastle University on 0191 2086616 or via email at anatomy.bequests@newcastle.ac.uk

If you wish to speak to someone at the University of Sunderland, please call the University on 0191 515 2000 and ask to speak to Brian Thompson (Technical Anatomy Manager) or Lynsey French (Senior Anatomy Technician) who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please be aware that it is not always possible to accept every donation. In that instance, normal funeral arrangements would be dealt with by your next of kin.
