Eight graduates from the University of Sunderland are among those featured in the King's Birthday Honours 2025, which recognises the outstanding achievements and contributions of people across the UK.

Kylie, who is also a published children’s author and illustrator, said: “I’m beyond honoured to receive an MBE for services to female entrepreneurship and social enterprise in the north-east, but this isn’t just about me – it’s for every woman who has ever doubted herself and kept going anyway.
“The Northern Lass Lounge is living proof that when lasses lift each other up, magic happens. This award is for all of us who’ve ever said, ‘Aye, I can do this.’”
