Professor Angela Smith and Dr Michael Higgins have recently had a paper published in Discourse, Context & Media. Their paper explores the semiotic properties of the UK government’s health information posters dealing with face coverings during the first year of the pandemic. They find that the changing political and scientific landscape is reflected in the posters, linking this with the decline in trust in the government’s health messaging at this time.
