Five reasons to come to an Open Day
- Take a tour: We offer campus tours throughout the day, delivered by our friendly and knowledgeable Student Ambassadors. Some subject talks will also be followed by a tour of the facilities. This is a great way to see where you'll learn and the equipment you'll use as part of your course.
- Look at the accommodation: If you’re planning to move away from home, you’ll want to see our student accommodation for yourself. We provide detailed tours of Panns Bank and Scotia Quay (near to our Sir Tom Cowie Campus) during an Open Day.
- Explore the city: It's also a good idea to take a look around the city during an Open Day, as this could soon be your home. Life in Sunderland is the perfect blend of nature, culture, and nightlife, and it's a great place to be a student. Head to the beach or grab a bite to eat at one of our many cafés and restaurants. You'll soon see why our students love it here so much!
- Learn more about your course: Of course, a key reason to attend an Open Day is to learn more about the course you're going to study. You'll get to meet the staff who'll teach you and the opportunity to ask them whatever you want to know. You might even get to meet current students, who'll give you a deeper insight into what it's really like to study your course here. Their honesty and enthusiasm should give you the reassurance you need.
- Boost your confidence: Attending an Open Day is a great way to calm the nerves about going somewhere new. University is a big life change and it can be reassuring to see the place in person and familiarise yourself with a key building or member of staff. This will give you that extra bit of confidence when you start your course.
