Course summary

The MBA (Marketing) is designed to develop your strategic understanding of how to lead and grow a successful business, with a specific focus on marketing. It’s a globally respected qualification that prepares you for senior leadership roles, especially in marketing led organisations. You’ll gain expert knowledge in areas such as brand strategy, customer insights, digital marketing, and global marketing management, giving you the tools to specialise in the marketing side of business leadership.

You’ll also benefit from our strong industry connections. Business leaders regularly visit the University to share their knowledge and insights. Recent guest speakers have included the Head of Sales and Marketing at Divine Chocolate and the CEO of Sunderland Football Club. These events give you valuable exposure to real-world business challenges and trends. They’re also a fantastic way to build your professional network, whether you’re exploring different career paths or already focused on a specific direction.

An MBA is a demanding qualification, but one that's highly valued by employers. It demonstrates your ability to lead, think strategically, and manage change. Our MBA graduates have secured roles with some of the world’s leading organisations, including Facebook, Microsoft, Sage, HSBC, IBM, Enterprise, Accenture, Procter & Gamble, Nissan, Barclays, Marriott Hotels, Viacom 18, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Adidas.

What you'll study

Core modules

Many of our courses include a range of modules you can choose from. Some of these options may only be available if you’ve already studied specific required modules. If you’re not sure what you need before picking a module, your course leader can help.

Postgraduate module credits should total 180. If optional modules are available alongside core modules on your course, you should choose an amount that totals 180 credits.

How you'll learn

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, class discussions, case studies, group work, presentations, and applied study. Your progress will be assessed with the dissertation and assignments.

Compared to an undergraduate course, you'll find that this master's degree requires a higher level of independent reading and research.

Please note, this specialist MBA route is available for October starts only.
