This master’s course is for graduates from any subject who want to change career and move into psychology. It’s a recognised conversion course that gives you the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society. This is the first essential step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

The MSc Psychology gives you a strong grounding in the core areas of psychology. It also prepares you for further postgraduate training in areas such as:

What you'll study

Many of our courses include a range of modules you can choose from. Some options may only be available if you’ve already studied specific modules. If you’re not sure what you need before picking a module, your course leader can help.

Postgraduate module credits should total 180. If optional modules are available alongside core modules on your course, you should choose an amount that totals 180 credits.

How you'll learn

If you study full-time, you’ll be on campus two days a week, usually Mondays and Tuesdays, from around 9-9:30am to 4-4:30pm.

If you study part-time, you’ll be on campus one day a week. In year one, this will be a Monday, and in year two, a Tuesday, at the same times. You can choose to complete the course over two years.

Our teaching team specialises in social and evolutionary psychology. You’ll learn through a mix of teaching methods, including:

  • Lectures
  • Seminars

  • Tutorials.

Master's degrees also involve a higher level of independent study.

Our research programme in health behaviours and mental health supports the course.
