Course summary

This short course, studied via flexible online learning, will help you develop the academic knowledge and skills required to progress to Level 6 study. This may include qualified healthcare professionals who've achieved a diploma in higher education or an equivalent to a UK diploma-level award. This specific short course can be used as a precursor to a top-up degree, such as BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up) or BSc (Hons) Professional Practice.

What you'll study

The range of topics covered on the course will allow you to reflect on your own professional and experiential learning, and the theoretical underpinning will require you to consider evidence-based research within your own practice. There'll also be a need to challenge the use of continuing professional development (CPD) as a professional.

How you'll learn

The course is delivered over 10 weeks via online distance learning. It will cover the following:

  • Week 1: introduction to the module
  • Weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8: independent study, completing activities within our Virtual Learning Environment, which will contribute to the development of your portfolio
  • Weeks 3, 5, 7, and 9: two hours of online learning where a range of topics will be covered
  • Week 10: submission of your portfolio.
